“‘This Night Love Bleeds’ draws you in with a somewhat sinister opening. The music of the track has a lot of layers for you to get through that work together to create a smoky background for the song. The increase in tempo brings the Greek and Balkan traditions to the front while getting the heart pumping. The lyrics and vocals are reminiscent of Nick Caves with a darkness to them. You can feel there is an interesting tale in the vocals that you need to put together…Pappas’ vocal performance is intense and adds an extra dimension to the track…”

Coral Caves RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘This night love bleeds’
Multi-instrumentalist,
songwriter and producer Christos Pappas announces the come back for his band
Coral Caves, 10 years after debut album ‘Labyrinth’s Path’ & unveils their
new sound & direction with the 2020 produced single ‘This night love
bleeds’. Described by the artist as ‘a musical trip from Greece & the Balkans
to the West, a prisma of Greek & Balkan music traditions in a post-modern
context.’
‘This night love bleeds’ will be available to stream &
download on 27th May 2020.
This is an anniversary release, celebrating
the 10 years after Coral Caves’ 1st album release & 8 years after
their 2nd and last Ep Album ‘Sometimes Shine’ (CPS-Records 2012). Recalling the
writing of the album, Christos comments that: ‘I composed & produced that album in a very
emotionally tense period of my life. Labyrinth’s path for me acts as a
catharsis for all the mournful emotions I experienced that period. Is an
expressionistic music journey, a diving trip to the emotions and senses.’
‘This night love bleeds’ is a re-recorded, re-mixed and re-produced
song in 2020. It combines some of the original recordings from
Labyrinth’s Path album release in 2010! The new and the old generate and
unveil the new direction that the band will take onwards. Guitars
substitute the Lute & Bouzouki. The Saxophone performances, scores
and melodies are inspired from Greek traditions, while the Brass
instruments incite and invite you to the sound of the Balkans. Lyrically
as its bold title states, it refers to erotic/personal relationships;
times of romance and tenderness have gone.

Caves Reviews:
BBC Radio
: ‘Coral Caves – Absolutely Brilliant!’
Jumbo Records (UK) : Dark and
mysterious…this album slowly hypnotises you into it’s funeral paced world…From
the atmospheric Tenor and Alto Sax to the eeriness of Christos Pappas’s vocals
this mournful, yet fresh story brings to mind the doomier side of the Doors and
perhaps a more folky version of a deathly opera. Excellent stuff.
SOS – Sound on Sound
magazine (UK) : ‘Christos Pappas describes his album as “a
musical trip from Greece and the Balkans to the West”. Which, thankfully,
doesn’t mean endless bouzouki solos over happy house beats; the blend of East
and West is handled here with commendable subtlety and thought. Acoustic
guitars “substitute the lute and bouzouki” but usually take a back seat to
saxophone, clarinet, and Christos’ doleful baritone voice. The recording is
mostly naturalistic rather than ‘produced’, leaving the heavy lifting to the
playing and arrangements. Both are very nicely done..’ Sam Inglis
Alt Sounds.com (USA) : “Coral Caves is a band from Leeds fronted by Christos Pappas and The
Labyrinth’s Path is their sophomore album. There is some serious deep, dark,
progressive late 1960’s/early 1970’s folk going on here. The Labyrinth’s Path
is a strange album…but I do like it.The first thing I noticed upon
hearing the new Coral Caves is their strong King Crimson influence. I’m talking
about the mellow, hazy, deep, dark, horn and string driven albums such as In
the Wake of Poseidon and Islands. There is also a strong Pink Floyd influence
here. I love the use of horns throughout the album and the gloomy, folksy
guitar work is great too. The music reminds a bit of Leonard Cohen’s at times
and the lyrics and vocals are dark and tortured and they tend to head a bit in
the same direction as well. Christos Pappas’ vocals can be deep and disturbing
when they want to be…
I have become addicted to the Coral Caves’ hazy,
funereal, death folk. The Labyrinth’s Path is a very slow moving
and laid back album. From the first track ’The Night Love Bleeds (Part 1)’ you
know what you are getting into and that you are there for the long haul. The
music has a way of building and subsiding like the tides…With that being said
there are some great tracks on The Labyrinth’s Path such as ‘Ticking Away’ with
it’s Pink Floyd-like dirge and ‘Black Curtains’ for it’s sheer, dark beauty. I
highly recommend playing ‘Black Curtains’, then if you like what you hear,
listen to the rest and if you want even more again, pick up the album. It’s
well worth your time and money.”

πιο συγκεκριμένα, είναι και οι Coral Caves του Χρήστου Παππά. Το άλμπουμ

CPS-Records proudly present Aris K. and his debut single (cover) L’Appuntamento!
Recorded, Mixed & Produced by Christos Pappas.
Aris K. states: ‘This is my debut (cover) single. It has a more modern approach in the production from the original and also a hint of optimism to the outcome of ‘L’appuntamento’ (The Date) and its beautiful & romantic-sad lyrics. My producer chose that song as my debut cover, he said that from its guitar intro in Ornella Vanoni’s version, he was instantly taken & completely hooked – so since I told him that I sing Italian – the decision was already made! Hope you’ll enjoy it as we did!’
